Wizards U18-2018 USA Youth Hockey National Champion Runner-up

The Wonderland Wizards U18 Midget Major Team played for the National Championship on Monday morning in Green Bay Wisconsin.

The Wizards faced the defending National Champions and #1 ranked team in the Country, Team Cooper Country from Michigan, in a rematch from Saturday’s only loss in the tournament which took 3 periods, a 5 minute OT and 7 rounds of a shootout to determine Team CC the winner.

In other pool play games, the Wizards defeated teams from Texas and Wisconsin and defeated Chicago in the Quarter finals, Pennsylvania in the Semi finals.

In the National Championship game, the Wizards were down 2-0 entering the 3rd period before a score on a penalty shot cut the deficit to 2-1.  Just a minute and 29 seconds later Team CC would answer with a goal and then iced the game a couple of minutes later with 2 more goals to win the National Championship.

Congratulations to the Wizards on a great season. After winning the CT State tourney, they were ranked 4th in Country before playing in the National Championship game.

Wonderland Wizards - ImPACT Test Concussion Management Program
ImPACT Test Concussion Management Program

The Wonderland Wizards have contracted ImPACT Applications, Inc. to provide a Concussion Management Program which has an online tool to a establish a baseline for the Concussion Management Program.

The ImPACT Test is a neuro-cognitive test that is one piece of the puzzle used in assessing recovery from concussions and determining the timing of return to play. It should only be used as a tool, and should not be the only deciding factor in returning a concussed athlete to play. It provides objective data and prevents athletes who hide their symptoms from returning to play before they are fully recovered.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Carefully read the information available through the following link:  General Information Pertaining to the ImPACT test.

2. Go to http://www.impacttestonline.com/testing to begin. The Wizards' Customer ID Code:
  2U7ESA8VDP

3. Start the ImPACT test.

The ImPACT Test is used by the NFL, NHL, and other professional sports organizations. It is used by many universities and is now recommended by some states for high school students. This test is recommended by the CIAC in Connecticut to be used as a baseline in Connecticut high schools.

NO ADOLESCENT WITH A CONCUSSION SHOULD CONTINUE TO PLAY OR RETURN TO A GAME AFTER SUSTAINING A CONCUSSION.
For additional information on concussions or the ImPACT Test, visit:
